Dates and fees

We propose three different programs for summer 2009. Duration can be 4 or 8 weeks. We strongly recommend you to take the 8-week program, because your Chinese language improvement will be far more significant.

Program seats are limited and priority will be given to 8-week program applicants.

Application deadline for all programs is May 18th 2009

The cost of the program covers the following:

Intensive Chinese language training.
Chinese history and culture lectures.
Course materials (audio material and books).
A Chinese mobile phone + Beijing SIM card.
24 hours CCI counselor assistance.
Travel and health insurance.
Welcoming and graduation banquets.
Trip to Xian for P1 and P3 participants (train tickets, 3-star hotel, sight seeing entrance tickets, transport within Xian, and one meal per day).
Scheduled cultural excursions in or near Beijing (transport, lunch, and entrance tickets are all included).
At least once a week Lunch with Teachers.
Peking University and Chinese Culture Institute Certificate.
Airport pick-up and drop-off.

In addition, students are responsible for:

Flight ticket to and from Beijing.
China Visa.
Most meals (about EUR 4/day).
Laundry.
Transportation within Beijing.
Entertainment.

We propose different options of accommodation in a 3-stars hotel near Beijing University:

Accommodation A: suite of 2 or 3 rooms that share bathroom.
Accommodation B: double room sharing with another student,
Accommodation C: single room.

Students will normally need EUR 250-300 for living expenses. (This estimation does not include other forms of shopping expenditure though.)

Transportation to and from Beijing is arranged and paid for by students. Students are responsible for arriving in Beijing on Saturday, June 27th for P1 and P2, or July 25th for P3, in time for placement and orientation which will begin early on the following day. Airfare from Europe to China cost approximately EUR 800-1,000.
Students are advised to purchase airline tickets as soon as they are accepted to the program.

A notebook computer, though not required, is strongly recommended. Every student must have an iPod or other MP3 player to listen to the audio recordings that accompany the textbook.
